Malik fought a total of five fights during the day to make it to the podium.

She also became India’s fourth Olympic champion, after heavyweight Karnam Malleswari (2000, Sydney), boxer MC Mary Kom (2012, London) and badminton player Saina Nehwal (2012, London).

Sakshi Malik was honored with an award of Rs. 2.5 crores.
Indian Railways was awarded with a cash reward of Rs. 60,000,000. Government of Uttar Pradesh has given Rani Laxmi Bai award along with a prize of Rs. 3.11,000,000.
She received: ₹15 lakh (US$22,000) from JSW Group; ₹20 lakh (US$30,000) from the Indian Olympic Association; ₹20 lakh (US$30,000) from the Ministry of Youth and Sports
When she qualified for the Olympics, Salman Khan gave her Rs. 1.01 lakhs.
