Biography of Annu Rani
Annu Rani, India’s flag bearer in the women’s javelin event, secured her spot for Tokyo 2020 from the world rankings. The Indians are currently ranked 18th in the Tokyo Road Rankings.
Rani became India’s first javelin thrower and third overall while Neeraj Chopra and Shivpal Singh will qualify for Tokyo 2020, which is scheduled to start on July 23.

Annu Rani was previously coached by Kashinath Naik and is now coached by Baljeet Singh.
Rani, who cleared 58.83 meters (193.0 ft) at the 2014 National Interstate Championship in Lucknow, broke the national record held by Gurmeet Kaur in 2000.
With this, he qualified for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the qualifying mark being 58.46 metres. In the event, he finished in eighth place, clocking a record 56.37 meters in the final.
That same year, at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, he won the bronze medal with 59.53 meters, bettering his own national record. After that, he broke his own record at the 56th National Open Championships in Athletics in September 2016 by throwing 60.01 meters.
In March 2019, he broke his own record again by throwing 62.34 meters in the Federation Cup National Championships in Patiala, Punjab.
In 2014, he won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, with a throw of 59.53m.
In Bhubaneswar and Odisha at the 2017 Asian Championships in Athletics, Rani won the bronze medal with a throw of 57.32m.
